‘God has been faithful to me on set’

BY GREGORY AUSTIN NWAKUNOR

The actress, Oluwabukola Sekinat Ajoke Wright will be celebrating her 15 years on stage today. The lady, who is a delight to watch in movies, has featured in a lot of films such as Agbeke, Oluwaferanmi, Temi ni Nkem, Dugbe Dugbe, Owo Ale and many others, talks about her life, fashion and reason for the celebration.

Why are you celebrating 15 years and not 20 or 25?
First, in all things, let us always give thanks to Allah for a successful year or decade or a score, we should give God the glory. I sang praises to God in thanksgiving for the journey so far. I did not plan to celebrate at all this year but something happened. I was invited to a burial reception and it was held in one of the then renowned secondary school. All the classrooms, compound, infrastructures, amenities etc were dilapidated. I said to myself: how can students learn under this environment? It is the same story all over Nigeria now. I know it was not like this in our days. The government is doing its best but it is obvious not enough, hence our suggestion of a public-private sector partnership. It will also avail brands some mileage opportunities.
What should we expect at the event?
The event is being put together by Heartlink Events run by my friend and sister, Kemi Otegbade. I’m sure you know her antecedents; there will be entertainment, performances, old skool disco, documentary and networking. Some schools will be represented and there will be book donation.
Why Oriental Hotel, is it not too expensive?
Well, we are expecting quality guests and we want them to feel at home and comfortable and also at the same time encourage them to identify with our project.
Why colour code for such a serious project?
Take it or leave it, there are going to be many celebrities in attendance. Colour code will add glamour and glitz to the event even as serious as it is. It will make the pictures heavenly.
